  • Show an icon in the save/load list to indicate permadeath saves.
  • Block manual copy and delete for permadeath saves.
  • Block normal games from overwriting protected permadeath slots.
  • Redirect autosave to the current save slot while permadeath is enabled.
  • Use a mirror switch to reflect the current permadeath state.

How to use

Configure the plugin parameters according to the type of save system your game needs. For a simple system to copy and delete saves, use only the plugin commands and, if you want, the confirmation window in the Save and Load scenes.

You can create a permadeath save system if you want. When permadeath is enabled, the current save is deleted on Game Over, the player cannot manually move the save to another slot after the first manual save, protected permadeath saves cannot be manually copied or deleted, and autosave uses the current save slot instead of the autosave slot. You can define the default permadeath state through the plugin parameter, or let the player choose between Permadeath and Normal Game through the New Save Setup window.

Plugin Parameters

Permadeath

These parameters control the combined Permadeath save mode. When enabled, the current save is deleted on Game Over, the player cannot manually move the save to another slot after the first manual save, protected permadeath saves cannot be copied or deleted manually, and autosave uses the current save slot instead of the autosave slot.

  • Enable → Defines the default permadeath state for new games when the New Save Setup Window is not used.
  • Switch Id → Switch that reflects the current permadeath state in the loaded save.
  • Save/Load Icon → Icon shown in the save/load list for permadeath saves. Use 0 to draw no icon.

New Save Setup Window

This optional window can be used to let the player choose between a permadeath game and a normal game after choosing New Game.

  • Enabled → Shows the New Save Setup window before starting a new game. If disabled, New Game uses the default value from the Permadeath parameter.
  • Permadeath Label → Text shown for the command that starts a new game with permadeath enabled.
  • Normal Game Label → Text shown for the command that starts a new game with permadeath disabled.
  • Window Position → Sets the window position. More info here.
  • Window Width → Window width.

Confirmation Window

An optional confirmation window can be used when the player selects a save file in the Save and Load scenes. It always includes the main Save or Load command and the Cancel command. Copy and Delete can also be shown if enabled by the plugin parameters.

  • Enabled → Shows a confirmation window when selecting a save in the Save and Load scenes.
  • Add Delete Command → Adds the Delete command to the confirmation window. The command is disabled when the selected save cannot be deleted.
  • Add Copy Command → Adds the Copy command to the confirmation window. The command is disabled when the selected save cannot be copied.
  • Window Position → Sets the window position. More info here.
  • Window Width → Confirmation window width.

Others

  • Max Save Files → Defines the maximum number of save files. Use 0 to keep the default RPG Maker MZ behavior.
  • Hide Autosave In Save Scene → Hides the autosave slot in the Save scene.
  • Hide Autosave In Load Scene → Hides the autosave slot in the Load scene.
  • Save/Load Icon Spacing → Space between the permadeath icon and the save title in the save/load list.

Plugin Commands

Delete Save File

Deletes one or more save files. The Slot Ids argument accepts multiple operators. Permadeath saves are protected and are not removed by this command.

  • Slot Ids → IDs of the saves that should be deleted. Use 0 for autosave.

Delete Current Save File

Deletes the currently active save file, as long as it is not protected by a special rule.

Delete All Save Files

Deletes all saves that are not set as permadeath.

Copy Save File

Copies an existing save to one or more target slots. A permadeath save cannot be used as the copy source, and a protected permadeath slot cannot be overwritten.

  • Save File Id → ID of the save used as the source. If the save does not exist or is protected, the command copies nothing.
  • Target Slots → IDs of the target slots. Accepts multiple operators.
  • Overwrite → If true, allows overwriting existing saves that are not protected. If false, copies only to empty slots.

Delete All Save And Extra Files

Deletes all saves and also the extra files listed in the Files argument, except the ones that are set as permadeath.

  • Files → Names of the extra files that should be removed from the save folder, separated by commas and without spaces. Names are case-sensitive.

If there is at least one protected save, the global file is preserved to keep the information used by the save list.
